What is JUVÉDERM®?
JUVÉDERM® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in your skin) that helps to add volume and hydration. It is used to smooth away wrinkles around the mouth and nose. JUVÉDERM® is the first and only smooth-consistency gel hyaluronic acid dermal filler approved by the FDA to last up to one year from initial treatment.
What is the difference between JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC?
The XC formulations of both products contain lidocaine, an anesthetic to make the injection more comfortable. The difference between JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC is that JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus is a more robust formulation that is made for more severe facial wrinkles and folds. JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus is ideal for deeper nasolabial folds, whereas JUVÉDERM® Ultra, a finer molecule, does very well in enhancement of the lips or filling fine lines.
How does JUVÉDERM® work?
JUVÉDERM® is one of the most natural looking fillers that gives instant results by filling in lines, hollow areas and plumping the skin to its original state. This hyaluronic acid dermal filler is chemically and physically cross linked to avoid rapid degradation. By injecting JUVÉDERM® the skin can regain thickness and substance as the hyaluronic acid absorbs water from its environment enhancing natural beauty.
When and how long will I see results from JUVÉDERM®?
The results of JUVÉDERM® are essentially immediate. Clients may experience some minor swelling after the injections, but this generally resides within 2-3 days. JUVÉDERM® may last for up to a year with one treatment. This is especially true if a “touch up” injection is done at the 3-6 month mark.
Is treatment with JUVÉDERM® painful?
Both JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC products contain lidocaine, an anesthetic to make the injection more comfortable for clients.
