What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is one of the most popular fillers and the only FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved lip enhancement used for over 20 years in patients. It consists of a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid (a sugar naturally found in the body that is tissue-friendly) that is specifically formulated to add volume just as your own body’s hyaluronic acid does. Restylane® is used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as lips and nasolabial folds.
How does Restylane® work?
Restylane® is a crystal clear gel that binds with water molecules up to 1,000 times its size. It works immediately by adding volume to fill lines, wrinkles and fullness to the lips. Restylane® renews and plumps diminishing lines, giving skin a softer more smooth appearance. It does not effect facial expressions.
When and how long will I see results from Restylane®?
Treatments are instant and typically last 20-30 minutes. Results can last up to 6 months with the capability to extend 18 months when you stick to a regimen program. A follow up treatment is typical every 6 months.
Is treatment with Restylane® painful?
Restylane® is injected with an ultra-fine needle into the desired area that is disinfected and prepared prior to treatment. A topical numbing agent may be applied prior to the procedure to minimize potential discomfort. Client’s may experience swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness. Individual treatment results may vary.
